NESDIS/NCEI Hawaii/Pacific Islands Liaison, Regional Science Officer
As entities within NOAA, the
National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) and the
National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC) have shared
responsibility for the
safekeeping and serving of oceanographic and coastal data and information.
The NOAA data centers (climate, geophysical, ocean, and coastal) within the National Environmental Satellite and Information
Service (NESDIS) were consolidated in 2015, forming the National
Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).
outreach into the scientific and public communities within the USA,
NOAA/NESDIS/NODC/NCDDC has provided liaison officers, who have helped to guide stakeholders
along the easiest
pathway for submitting data to or for acquiring environmental data, information,
and products from NOAA.
The liaison responible for the Hawaiian and US-affiliated
Islands in the Pacific is
Mr. Patrick Caldwell . He has been based within the
Department of Oceanography, University of Hawaii at Manoa since 1987.
This effort continues under the NOAA/NESDIS/NCEI.
