CDIP Wave Riders
The Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP)
maintains buoy arrays throughout the coastal zones of the continental USA and
Hawaii. The CDIP waver rider gauges
provide wave energy as a function of wave period. The data are usually taken at
six hour increments. A collaborating agency with CDIP is the
U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers (USACE) which also maintains arrays of gauges
in coastal areas of the USA. These data have been kindly shared with the National Oceanographic Data
Center, where data are stored for posterity.
The NODC Hawaii Liaison has obtained copies of the data for the Hawaiian region.
The original CDIP files at 6-hr increments are available on a case-by-case basis. Daily
averages have been computed and are available online. The original USACE data is
available online in the USACE format.
Appropriate credit for use of this data should be given to the CDIP and USACE.
