NDBC Buoys

The National Oceanographic Data Center serves as the long-term archive and distribution hub of these types of data sets. The NDBC buoy data are available on CDROMs for historic data or through the NODC Online Data Server for more recent data that have not made it on to the CDROM set. The archive is inclusive of all NDBC C-Man and open water buoys, which have been maintained primary in the continental USA coastal waters. The data are stored as ASCII in NODC file format F291 which includes extensive spectral information.

The NODC Hawaii Liaison provides access to buoys in Hawaiian waters in the reduced Air-Sea Parameters format, which excludes the spectral data.
