The anomaly value at each tide gauge location is the difference between the monthly mean sea level and the mean annual cycle, specified as the 1993-2001 average sea level for that month at that station. Sea level has been corrected for the inverse barometer effect using atmospheric pressure obtained from the Climate Analysis Center. Contour lines are obtained from the near-real time Topex altimeter analysis. The altimeter data are processed in the same manner as the tide gauge data.
